Welcome to Harmonious Health!
I'm Suzy Harmon, a Certified Health Coach who teaches individuals and groups how to live happy, healthy lives through guided nutrition & lifestyle changes that produce lasting results.
After struggling for years with weight gain, hair loss, anxiety, depression and chronic fatigue I knew I needed to make a change. Frustrated with the minimal relief provided and the side effects caused by prescription medications, I started seeking alternative solutions. This led me to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) where I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s leading health & wellness experts. By implementing the dietary and lifestyle choices I'd learned I was able to completely heal myself through a clean, nutrient-dense
whole food diet, and by introducing simple techniques that promote good mental and physical health.... without the use of a single medication! As a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach it brings me great satisfaction helping clients integrate those same techniques into their own lifestyles.
Feel free to browse my website where you'll find every day tips, tricks, recipes and practical solutions for taking control of your health. Don't hesitate to contact me with questions, comments or to speak with me personally about a customized solution for your lifestyle and wellness goals. After all, your greatest wealth is health!

Those of you who have read my book Hungry For Health, Starved For Time, follow my Harmonious Health Facebook Page or my Instagram know how much I value home cooking. I agree with Michael Pollan who notes in his book "Cooked" ....
When it comes to living a healthy lifestyle, it's more than just what you eat and how you exercise. The quality of your sleep, how you deal with stress and your emotional wellbeing also play a role in your overall health....
Breakfast bars, granola bars, snack bars, meal replacement bars, diet bars, & power bars for sports are all the rage. They are super convenient and you can grab them for a portable snack, if you are running out the door and too late for breakfast...
Hunger is often a symptom of stress, and thinking about food begins the escape from stress. But when we really want to get away from something we are feeling, we often turn to eating food, because it provides the comfort our body is craving...
When I work with women in my coaching programs who are trying to lose weight I often find they are frustrated with themselves from harsh deprivation and beating themselves up over poor willpower. They suffer with daily food struggles...
Happy, healthy 2016!!
Wow! My gym was so crowded this morning I actually had to wait for a machine for the first time in a while. I wonder what it will look like 2 weeks from now?? I remember last year the same thing happened, and by early February it was back to normal at the gym and many of the new folks were nowhere to be found.....
So, peace out November... and welcome to December and the Holiday frenzy. I kind of freaked out when I realized Hanukah begins on December 5th this year. That's Saturday folks! I realized how early Hanukah was this year on Thanksgiving morning....
One of the concepts that I studied at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) that distinguishes my Health Coaching Program from other programs is the idea of "Primary Food". You will not see Primary Food on the USDA Myplate. It is a concept...
This is a great recipe I just tried courtesy of the Whole 30 diet. It is a delicious tasting chicken recipe that is prepared in the crockpot. I love having this in the fridge during the week to serve for dinner with rice, or to top on a salad or in a taco shell for lunch...
Marilena Minucci a great coach taught me to "Create sacred space for yourself everyday." That is what I love to teach my clients to do. When we don't do this we let distractor factors such as perfectionism, procrastination, fear, and the normal ups and downs of life get in our way. Sacred space provides the energy and perspective we need to...
As my Facebook news feed fills with first day of school photos with freshly cut bangs, college dorm rooms with new comforters and matching pillows with scripted initials hanging overhead, sorority girls wearing matching clothing doing I don't know what (never joined a sorority, but that's another post), cars loaded with...
As I close in on my first year working as a health coach, I have noticed many reasons why women are choosing to work with me to improve their health and well-being, but weight loss always seems to be a big factor. I often hear women say, “at my age I just cannot...
Since becoming a Health Coach, I have noticed the following 5 reasons why most people delay taking steps toward improving their health. Do any of these resonate with you? Sometimes just understanding what is standing in your way will help you begin to take action....
Are you feeling stressed, rushed, or scattered as if you are being pulled in too many directions. Are there too many demands on your time? I hear from so many of my clients that they do not have the "time" to cook and plan their meals because they are so busy, and sometimes they can't even stop to find time for lunch until late in the day.
Do you know those people who are always on the move? Rushing off to their next appointment, cell phone at their ear or between their thumbs? They don’t see the beginning of a new season or the smile of the cute baby in the stroller at the red light. I know because, I used to be one of them.
Do you want to feel more confident with the food choices you make? Do you want more energy and clearer thinking? Do you want to walk into your closet knowing you can wear anything and it will look and feel great? We need to create time to take care of our health, as the time will not just appear...
Recently when my email was hacked, (and apologies to any of you who were affected), I realized that not taking care of the security of your computer will wreak havoc on your stress levels when you encounter trouble. My phone rang non-stop that day with wonderful friends concerned about my trip to the Ukraine, the trouble I was in, and asking if they could help.
I struggled with the title of this blog post. The alternative title was going to be "My New Found Appreciation for My Husband's Career as An Advertising Executive". Here is why: If you look up Detox in the dictionary it is defined as a process or period of time in which one abstains from or rids the body of toxic or unhealthy substances.
As my year studying at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition comes to an end, and in honor of Thanksgiving, I thought I would share some of my favorite new healthy habits that I am thankful to have learned. I have incorporated these habits slowly into my daily routine over this past year and I have found that they help me feel great, have more energy, sleep better, and stay more focused throughout the day.
Imagine walking into a room where you know at once everyone there is your soul mate. Imagine a group of happy, motivated, excited people who all want to connect with you and lift you up. Imagine a scenario where you turn to the person next to you who you've never met and tell them your deepest fears...
I just finished reading Kim Petrosino’s book "The Small Change Solution: A 52 Step Guide to Getting the Naturally Healthy Lifestyle You Want". Kimberly is a fellow Holistic Health Coach at Happy Healthy Heart, who I met at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Even though I finished the book, I will not loan it, or put it back on my bookshelf.
Over the past few weeks it seems like everyone I know is becoming super busy. For those with kids, the school year is in full swing, homecoming dances, fall sports competitions, exams looming. As the weather begins to cool off, visions of Thanksgiving and winter break begin to tease everyone’s mind and put them in planning mode.
Are you feeling overwhelmed?
Do you have trouble concentrating and getting to sleep? My book can help guide you through simple lifestyle changes that will not only help you live a healthier and more satisfying life, but will also help you find the time and energy to do the things that you love.
